Seamus emerges from his tent replete in Lamplighter Foundation uniform and regalia. The people of Danae had been hit hard by local events and are needing help, and their cry has been taken personally by the organizations founder. As one of the first recruits , Seamus and others have been tasked to help with the relief efforts here such as healing the sick, removing new dangers from the countryside , and ensuring each community has what it takes to begin again
Avatar
Seamus walks out of the tent looking spiffy as he lights a cigarette with his fingers. He heads to the highest level of command in the area to see what jobs that could be completed with his expertise
Avatar
There are several people who need medical attention, a group of outlaws have moved into a nearby wood, and a series of surveys into land around the campsite are all things being looked into today
Avatar
Seamus heads to the area for the survey, snuffing out the cigarette when remembering what his mum told him May she rest in peace (edited)
Avatar
A small group of two technicians , a soldier and you will be heading out on a few day walk around the area to mark water sources , new places to get resources, and any other notable natural features
Avatar
(Could you mark a place on the map?)
Avatar
(you're on the island, off in the southeast)
15:19
(where the hut is)
Avatar
(Oh, ok)
15:21
Seamus walks with them, making awkward small talk until they get to their first area of interest
Avatar
(d10)
Avatar
Moving north, a lush meadow stretches out before you. This is one of the few places the bombardment didnt target and wildlife from all over the planety has made its way here to try to roost and regain some sense of balance.
Avatar
Seamus tries to take a photo of some of the species here to reference them to the database
19:28
Maybe some could be domesticated for food purposes
Avatar
There is a variant of lope native to this world-as most seem to have their own variants, that could be but catching them and getting them back to the encampment will take work
Avatar
Seamus asks the techs if they brought any rope, or if the soldier brought a flop rifle
Avatar
The soldier does not have a flop rifle but one of the technicians has 20m of rope on him that can be cut into more appropriate lengths depending on what you're doing
Avatar
Seamus has a plan, but it all depends on careful observation of these nee lopes
00:46
He needs to find out what they eat, what paths they frequent, and other basic behaviors
Avatar
(The plan is to basically find out what it eats to make a sort of peace offering to it and hopefully tame it)
Avatar
You can see them feeding on the lush plains grasses and berries from nearby bushes
Avatar
As soon as the lopes leave the bushes, Seamus goes up to the berries and scans them with his Survey scanner
04:01
Maybe I can make something from this that would attract the lopes
Avatar
The berries are edible, and are safe to pick (and i guess after that i cant really say anything until you decide what youre doing with them)
Avatar
(Well, I had a few ideas on how to prepare it as food. So like a puree made out of it with a little sugar.)
Avatar
(Okay , let me know what you’re doing then)
Avatar
(I was thinking of leaving some of that puree and then another with normal berries out there and see which one they like better)
Avatar
(Okay. So do something)
Avatar
(Right. Haha)
05:43
Seamus makes a puree out of the berries by blending them finely, then adding some sugar for taste. He then puts it in a bowl, and prepares another bowl of mundane berries. Finally, he places them side by side in their habitat and sees which one they prefer
05:43
Let’s hope this goes well!
Avatar
The mundane berries are the ones they seem@to like better though both bowls are eaten within a few moments of your scent wearing off them
Avatar
Seamus then gathers a few of the berries and attempts to slowly get closer the the lopes (Guessing survive/wis) (edited)
Avatar
(If you're just trying to sneak up it would be a snea/dex)
Avatar
(It's more trying to gain it's trust, going slowly up to it with berries in hand)
Avatar
(But I can still roll a sneak/dex)
Avatar
(yeah sneak then just to get close since im still not sure where this is going)
16:40
(Basically, I want to tame the lope. That is the end goal)
Avatar
The lope notices you getting close, and its eyes open wide. It bounds off, leaving smears of the concoction behind on the grass, galloping away with the rest of the herd
Avatar
Seamus slams his fists on the ground in exasperation
16:59
He then thinks of another good idea
17:00
"Sorry, but d-do any of you know of a herb that induces sleep around here?" (edited)
Avatar
"We'd have to take some cuts from up in the mountains. It'll be a dangerous climb if we go unprepared"
Avatar
"Hmm, better requisition some equipment. What do you suggest we bring?" (edited)
Avatar
"Anything you think might be important for your own survival while mountain climbing. It won't be dangerous if we prepare ahead of time
Avatar
(I'll buy 20m of tl4 rope, a climbing harness, Grapnel launcher, BioScanner,)
19:24
After Seamus purchases some things that he believes that may help him, he tells his partners that he's ready to go up the mountain
19:26
"S-so guys, I thought of a g-great plan" He says a bit nervously, not knowing how they'll react "If we make the puree from yesterday, and add some of this plant in there, they'll fall asleep, and we'll be able to capture them and attempt to tame them!" He says excitedly
19:26
The possibilities are endless!
Avatar
"That should work, as long as we hide the sleeping agent well, and if we're lucky enough to find some in the first place. Are you ready for climbing?"
Avatar
"I am, t-thank you"
20:18
Seamus clips on his climbing harness and attaches it to the rope that he's brought with him
Avatar
The items are secured, and after passing a night at camp, the group moves out in the morning to the base of the mountains, preparing for an afternoon ascent. The woods are dark, and the peaks cast a long shadow over the woodlands as the sun moves in the sky overhead. The woods are also quiet, birds and other creatures hiding either from you, or something more frightening in the area
Avatar
Seamus shivers at the possibility of a predator here, and immediately fishes into his survival kit to grab the glowbug. He then turns it on and keeps close to the soldier (edited)
Avatar
(notie/wis)
Avatar
You hear something growling from the rear of the group, deep within the forest, but you cannot see it from where you stand now
Avatar
Seamus alerts the soldier to the presence, then swivels and points a glowbug towards it
Avatar
Whatever he out there seems to recoil against the light
17:40
It shrinks back, Hiding in the wood
Avatar
Seamus stays alert, lighting a fire and appointing shifts to watch every 3 hours (edited)
Avatar
(Oh are we camping then?)
17:42
(You sort of just decided we were done with the encounter and half a days went by )
17:42
(If you are that’s fine but I need to do some background things)
Avatar
(No, sorry. My dumb self read that as it wa night time)
17:45
Seamus turns off the glowbug and puts it back in his kit, then continues to trek towards the place the herb should be
Avatar
You reach the base of the mountains by late afternoon and the decision becomes do we stop and risk a night attack by the creature, or try to climb in the dark
Avatar
Seamus decides to stop for the night, unpacking his survival kit and starts a fire. He then gathers up some mundane leaves for beds and establishes 4 s hour shifts of watch, so they everyone can sleep a little bit
Avatar
(d10)
Avatar
The creature and your watch decide not to tangle that night, especially with glow bugs set out around the camp. It avoids you and you're not attacked
Avatar
Seamus sleeps peacefully, now that they are not being attacked. Once he wakes up in the morning, he packs everything back into the kit, and begins the climb
20:45
(I have 20m of rope and a harness, if it applies)
Avatar
Having packed for the trip, and under the tutelage of skilled experts, you begin the ascent early in the morning once the fog burns off and it becomes easier to see. Power cells are changed in the glow-bugs before departing so you will have a safe camp to return to if the climb stretches into the evening. The first clifftop that flattens out is 250m above you. Going slow and steady, this will take most of the morning to ascend.
Avatar
Seamus takes his time, not in a super rush to get the herbs
Avatar
By mid morning you’ve made your way to the cliff top. Moss clings to the shady mountain wall and sparse patches of grass and dirt cover the cliff top along with small stones. A pair of birds scatter into the air, the size of old earth pheasants but not quite the same animal
Avatar
Ukrast Pompeus (Protorino) 05-Nov-20 02:41 PM
Seamus looks for the herb, and also keeps an eye out for the nest of those pheasants. If they had some eggs, maybe he could hatch them
Avatar
The eggs would be cold too long, if even fertile, and probably would not survive the climb down, but they'll make a nice addition to a midday meal, and you're able to find a few.
Avatar
Ukrast Pompeus (Protorino) 05-Nov-20 03:36 PM
Gathering the eggs, he scans a few for some information on the species, then gets to work finding the sleep herbs
15:37
Those are the main goal here

Avatar
You're able to find a very small patch of it. It might be enough to knock out a lope if its mixed right
Avatar
Ukrast Pompeus (Protorino) 05-Nov-20 06:57 PM
Seamus grabs it all and carefully bundles it up, scanning it for any chemical formulaes that are the secret to it's potentivity
18:57
He then heads to make camp there, to climb down tommorow
18:58
(I also wanted to try and catch a pheasant)
Avatar
the birds won't return with their nests pillaged and people camping in the area. There is no synthetic blend of chemical that will replicate this herb, and conditions would need to be artificially created to try to grow this on the groind level
Avatar
Ukrast Pompeus (Protorino) 05-Nov-20 07:52 PM
Seamus seems satisfied with the fact that they may be able to grow the herb, and settles down for the night to sleep (edited)
Avatar
Ukrast Pompeus (Protorino) 05-Nov-20 08:09 PM
After waking up in the morning, he'll begin the descent, excited to prepare a formulae to let the lopes sleep
Avatar
Prepared for the climb down, you're able to do it with no difficulty aside from the passage of time. The eggs make a fine breakfast but you never see the birds again during your time spend camping. Most of your gear is still at the foot of the mountaun, and the glowbugs are on the last dregs of their battery power
Avatar
Ukrast Pompeus (Protorino) 05-Nov-20 08:39 PM
To replace the glowbugs, Seamus makes a small fire and dips some branches into the fire to make torches to use
Avatar
(You've got enough time to get back before dark, unless you want to camp again)
Avatar
Ukrast Pompeus (Protorino) 05-Nov-20 08:46 PM
(No, I'll head back. I thought it was too late)

After Seamus gets back he sets aside two seeds to plant, then gets to mixing the berry puree and the sleep herbs
21:41
(I'm gonna call it sleep-m8)
Avatar
You're able to complete the dark mixture by evening, and all that remains is to test the fruits of your labors
Avatar
Ukrast Pompeus (Protorino) 06-Nov-20 02:38 PM
seamus carefully creeps into the plain where all the lopes are and checks if there is any lopes there
Avatar
A few of them are bedding down some distance away, content to lie concealed amid the long grasses
Avatar
Ukrast Pompeus (Protorino) 06-Nov-20 03:54 PM
Seamus sets down the plate, then starts a small fire with his fingers to alert them something's there
Avatar
(is it just sparkingbetween your fingers? or are you lighting something on fire?)
Avatar
Ukrast Pompeus (Protorino) 06-Nov-20 04:03 PM
(Between fingers, nothing major, just enough to grab attention)
Avatar
You see two of them perk up, and begin looking in your direction
Avatar
Ukrast Pompeus (Protorino) 06-Nov-20 05:58 PM
Seamus quickly hides in the grass, hoping that the lopes would come investigate
Avatar
Onen of the lopes is braver than the others and begins making his way over, trying to sniff the air, to make up for their less then good eyesight
Avatar
Ukrast Pompeus (Protorino) 06-Nov-20 07:28 PM
Seamus gets closer to the dish and begins to mix it to stir up the scent, then backs away
Avatar
One of the creatures begins moving close, the brave one, though recoils back when it seems to pick up your scent
Avatar
Ukrast Pompeus (Protorino) 06-Nov-20 08:08 PM
Suddenly, what could be called a tail of metadimensional energy flares out from seamus, like a small spinning wind as he begins to float upwards (Using the art steps of air) (edited)
20:08
(Basically, hoping that going away would wash away my scent)
Avatar
(You're rising out of the grass?)
Avatar
Ukrast Pompeus (Protorino) 06-Nov-20 08:11 PM
(yes)
20:11
(I mean, i formulated the plan based on their poor eyesight)
Avatar
The creature begins moving forward, dipping its head into the bowl, and eating heartily
Avatar
Ukrast Pompeus (Protorino) 06-Nov-20 08:14 PM
Seamus views intently, seeing if it goes to sleep, or just gets a little woozy
Avatar
the concoction seems to be slow acting since you did not get a large amount of the herbs. you're forced to stalk it through the fields well past dark, before it finally collapses onto its side
Avatar
Ukrast Pompeus (Protorino) 06-Nov-20 08:26 PM
Seamus attempts to call someone on his compad to help him carry the lope, then sets to work trying to make a stretcher and some rope
Avatar
You've traveled far beyond the settlement and camp in your hunt for this. (survive/wis)

(rolled a 2+2 plus 1 for the survival kit) (edited)
Avatar
You're not able to find enough pieces in the grasslands to make a skid for the lope. You could carry it, but you'll be in for a slow, and long walk back home
Avatar
Ukrast Pompeus (Protorino) 07-Nov-20 02:56 AM
Seamus stays up the night, lighting up a torch to keep any unwanted animals away, and hoping that the lope doesn't run away
Avatar
(carrying it back? or are we jsut sitting with it? Not really sure what's happening)
Avatar
Ukrast Pompeus (Protorino) 07-Nov-20 03:11 AM
(Staying there with the lope)
03:11
(Not gonna risk it)
03:12
(Learned a bit from Abreocod)
Avatar
A few hours from morning the lope begins to stir, legs gently moving to try to rigjt itself and stand again
Avatar
Ukrast Pompeus (Protorino) 07-Nov-20 05:47 PM
Seamus begins to cast a spell that will hopefully surrender the lope to his will, and maybe he can talk to it (Supercession of infererior minds )
Avatar
(I’ll have to look it up I’ll be away from the books for a while yet)
Avatar
(I don't see this in WWN, Or the codex. Is this the correct name?)
Avatar
Ukrast Pompeus (Protorino) 08-Nov-20 12:44 AM
(it's Cognitive Supersession of the Inferior Orders, sorry)
Avatar
The creature blinks twice as it regains its feet, before its eyes subtly glow a soft shade of blue, without iris or pupil. For now, it is under your control
Avatar
Ukrast Pompeus (Protorino) 08-Nov-20 04:55 PM
Seamus asks it a question. "What would it take for you to let us domesticate you?"
17:01
Images flood into it's mind of a secure home, stable food source, and caring overlords
Avatar
The creature wants to run wild and free. The only paddock it truly wants is the forest where it can continue living with its own kind
Avatar
Ukrast Pompeus (Protorino) 08-Nov-20 08:23 PM
Seamus grudgingly agrees, and lets it go. I'm sure they'll be other chances
20:24
He sullenly trudges back to the village, and checks in for the day to catch up on sleep
Avatar
The settlement is calm. You at least know of herbs on the mountain that can be made into medicine and your climbing equipment and camp have been left in place. Others can scale the mountainside now to gather components for medicine when needed
Avatar
Ukrast Pompeus (Protorino) 08-Nov-20 08:28 PM
Seamus attempts to make a small place to plant the seeds (I was thinking of using elemental favor to concoct a mini environment for them to grow in, kind of like a greenhouse)
Avatar
(you could alter the soil but the air and temperature wouldn't stay constant, since they're not stable or fixed environmental features)
Avatar
Ukrast Pompeus (Protorino) 09-Nov-20 02:05 AM
(Then could I build some sort of greenhouse away from the settlement? I'd love to set up some sort of shop, and a greenhouse would help supply some plants to sell or use)
Avatar
(not sure if we want to amend this or not based on our conversation)
Avatar
Ukrast Pompeus (Protorino) 09-Nov-20 02:24 AM
(Yeah, I'll just make a garden-sized greenhouse to try and grow the herb, using elemental favor to change the soil. )
Avatar
(Alright, sounds good)
Avatar
Ukrast Pompeus (Protorino) 09-Nov-20 02:41 PM
After setting up the greenhouse, Seamus walks into the LLF office to check what types of animals have been discovered in the area. I'd love to discover some new animals for a steady stream of food for the village
Avatar
There aren't any existing records of animals on this planet anymore. There was a database once before The Scream. The remains of it were destroyed in the recent Etxaurren raid. Finding food for the village and documenting local plants and animals is the entire mission of the Lamplighter Foundation here
Avatar
Ukrast Pompeus (Protorino) 09-Nov-20 03:47 PM
Seamus begins to note on his compad the native species of lope and pheasant, then heads out to the plains to see if he can find any new animals
Avatar
by Mid afternoon when your greenhouse is finished, you see lopes out on the plains again, keeping their distance from you
Avatar
Ukrast Pompeus (Protorino) 09-Nov-20 04:37 PM
(What kind of environments are there? Should I explore and roll a d10?)
Avatar
(same one as the one we generated. This is around base camp)
Avatar
Ukrast Pompeus (Protorino) 09-Nov-20 04:39 PM
(So if I explore further, would I roll a d10?)
Avatar
(correct)
19:02
(but we'd be going 200km from camp, so we'd need transportation)
Avatar
Ukrast Pompeus (Protorino) 09-Nov-20 07:04 PM
(Alright. I'm just contemplating things to do, as staying in danae is not the right way to make a name for myself)
Avatar
(alright, well, the lamplighter mission you were assigned to is on Danae, but if you're wanting to do something else we either need to get with nat and figure things out, or go back to proc)
Avatar
Ukrast Pompeus (Protorino) 09-Nov-20 07:11 PM
(There should be ships here, right? The boss reccomended I take a look at Parnika)
Avatar
(there are greystar ships here. The lamplighter fleet has moved off to Heras)
Avatar
Ukrast Pompeus (Protorino) 09-Nov-20 07:12 PM
(Then I'll check out Parnika, as it seems interesting. Don't think many people have been there) (edited)
19:13
(it seems billy is there though, which may change things)
19:16
(I guess I can switch to proc for now, as nothing pressing has come up with Seamus)
Avatar
(okay, we'll retire all 3 days of Seamus)
